Y/N POV

He shouldn’t have asked her to come. He knew it the second he hit send. But he also knew — if he didn’t explain himself, it would eat him alive.

The fight wasn’t planned. It wasn’t some chivalrous moment where he swooped in like a hero. It was rage. Pure, hot, and instinctual. They talked about her like she was an accessory. A prize. A backup dancer riding his spotlight. That flipped a switch inside him — because she was none of those things.

She was the only person who ever made him feel less than invincible. And maybe… maybe he liked that too much. So when he saw her standing there behind the building, arms wrapped around herself in the cold, his first thought was God, she came. His second thought: Don’t screw this up.

“You got suspended because of me?”She sounded angry. Not the sarcastic kind — the real kind. The kind he hated. “I don’t regret it,” he said, and meant it. She didn’t speak. But something flickered in her eyes — confusion, maybe. Or something worse. Hope.

He stepped closer without thinking. "You’re not supposed to care. ? We hate each other." Right. Hate. The word should’ve been armor. Instead, it felt like glass in his throat.

He looked at her, and all he could think was I don’t want to pretend anymore. “I don’t think I hate you anymore,” he said. It was a risk. The biggest one he’d ever taken.

And when she didn’t pull away, didn’t insult him or laugh or roll her eyes — he almost leaned in. Almost. He wanted to kiss her. Not just because of the tension. Not just because of the electricity. But because there was something about her that made him forget who he was supposed to be.

Then came the sound. Metal clattering. A shout. Footsteps pounding against pavement. His heart flipped. Someone was coming. “Run,” he whispered, grabbing her hand. Her fingers were cold — but they didn’t let go.

And just like that, they were sprinting into the night, hearts hammering, everything unspoken burning between them.
