"We pray for hope,
embrace curses,
and protect you from the dark.
We're magical girls."
- Homura Akemi
Her lungs are coated in tar. Sticky and black. She smokes 20 cigarettes a day. Two packets a day She drowns in vodka shots and cocaine. Her dealer laughing at her while she is dressed up. "What party are you going to dressed like that?" She brushes it off and keeps on walking.
She lives in bed. That's her home. There is a direct groove where you can tell where she has been sleeping. She needs to change the bedsheets. They are gross yet every time she says she is just too tired to do anything.
Too sad,
Too fatigued,
Too depressed.
She battles with depression. She doesn't eat for days. Lies in bed for most of the day. Doesn't reply to messages. She just wishes she wasn't here. She wishes that every day.
Coffee has stained the table. Pots and dishes haven't been washed and food still stuck to it. Her apartment looks like a landfill. It's as if someone has emptied a dozen trash bags in there.
She is too traumatised, missing friends who have died along the way. She tried to do her best to save them but it just wasn't enough. Now she has to suffer from survivors guilt. Their bodies were taken. Flowers planted on graves to never be seen again.

i absolutely loveee madoka magica, and this poem also rly spoke to me. you foreground the parts of depression that are usually overlooked in such an authentic and genuine way that i don't usually see in media.
Me too!
I tried to write in a perspective of a magical girl as in some anime they live traumatic lives also I projected abit :sob:
